Our gym is called 'the BEST defence'. It was formerly 'Mark Davies' Blackbelt Academies', but we changed our name to better describe what we specialise in. Mark Davies is an Internationally renowned self defence specialist, & we offer the highest standard of personal protection training available. We opened our gym in 2003, & it was the first Martial Arts Centre in Angus. Since then it has gone from strength to strength. Run by Mark Davies 5th Degree Blackbelt, & Jacqui Davies 2nd Degree Blackbelt, it offers a private, safe, friendly, & discreet training venue.
Fully Equipped Martial Arts Centre
Where most classes held in halls around Angus have very little equipment (if any), our Fully Equipped Martial Arts Centre has a full selection of focus pads, kicking shields, punch bags, body opponent bags, training tools, & much more. We have all the specialised equipment needed to help our students to get the absolute best out of their training.
Because we're a private centre you never have to worry about people watching from the sidelines, & because all our classes are split into age specific programmes they are far more child friendly & feature better child protection.
Professional & experienced Instruction
Our classes are taught by professional instructors. This means that our programmes are taught by people who devote all their time to developing the best training programmes available. We try to make our childrens programmes as much fun as possible, whilst making sure that our high technical standards are maintained.
Our Full Time Centre, what's available?
Our martial arts centre, 'the BEST defence', is very easy to find. We are at the top of Guthrie Port opposite Arbroath Abbey. If you reach the main roundabout in Arbroath (opposite Morrisons supermarket) you simply take the turning up the small road going up-hill, this is Guthrie Port. We are at the top. - Little Ninjas Mon/Fri classes- 4pm-4.45pm & 4.45pm-5.30pm
- Kettlebells- 6.30pm-7.30pm
Tuesday
- Junior Kickboxing- 4pm-5pm
- Little Ninjas Tues/Thurs classes- 5pm-5.45pm & 5.45pm - 6.30pm
- Junior TaeKwon-Do- 6.30pm-7.30pm
- Adults TaeKwon-Do- 7.30pm - 9pm
Wednesday
- Fighting Fit, hard core fitness for men & women- 6.30pm-7.30pm
- Adults Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)- 7.30-9pm
Thursday
- Junior Kickboxing- 4pm-5pm
- Little Ninjas Tues/Thurs classes- 5pm-5.45pm & 5.45pm - 6.30pm
- Junior TaeKwon-Do- 6.30pm-7.30pm
- Adults TaeKwon-Do- 7.30pm - 9pm

Dundee- these classes are taught by Mr Carl Dickenson 1st Degree, & Mr Ross Cairney 1st Degree.
TaeKwon-Do (adults & kids), Fri 7.30pm-8.30pm.
